• If you are creating a linked document set to send to other users, then each file in the set must have a unique name.
• HyperBox opens the linked documents in the application that created them, therefore, the person reading the linked documents must have the proper application(s). Programs such as Macintosh Easy Open help by substituting available applications for missing ones, but you should keep this in mind if you are distributing linked documents.
Sending Files physically
To send files on floppy disks, Zip cartridges, magneto optical disks, or similar disks, HyperBox needs to modify the links for the new location. Fortunately, HyperBox makes this easy by gathering all the linked documents, copying them, and resetting the links as necessary.
1) Make sure all the files are closed
2) Select ‘Copy Files…’ from the HyperBox menu
An Open/Save dialog box opens prompting for the file to copy.
3) Select any one of the linked files
A second Open/Save dialog box opens asking for the folder to copy the files to.
4) Select the destination folder
HyperBox finds all the linked files and opens a dialog box with their names. You can keep the files in any folder and HyperBox will gather them for you. You also don’t have to worry about forgetting to copy a linked file.
5) Confirm the files to copy
HyperBox copies the selected files to the new destination and resets the links.
Sending Files electronically
To transmit files to other users or post them on-line, you should compress the files for efficient transfers. HyperBox helps by gathering all the files into one folder. You can then compress this folder into one archive.
Follow the same steps above, except step 4:
4) Select the destination folder on the same hard drive that contains the files
HyperBox duplicates the files in the folder. You can delete the duplicated files after they’re sent.
